The first step to short listing English Golden Retriever Breeders is to meet and interview all of them. Paying them a visit and talking to them gives you a chance to interact with them face to face and it also give you an opportunity to see how they keep their dogs and what kind of people they are. This will tell you a lot about them. There is another side to the story too. A good breeder will just not give their puppies to the first person who comes along. Check for references

How sensibly does he or she breed?

Another important aspect that you must consider when you are choosing an English Golden Retriever Breeder is how sensibly they breed their dogs. Does the breeder concentrate on dogs that are overall good dogs or do they concentrate on a particular trait like making it a hunting dog or a show dog etc. You will also need to check the medical history of all the breeders’ dogs as Golden Retrievers are prone to certain genetic diseases.
