Softball Drills – Improve Your Catching and Hitting Abilities

Softball, without a doubt, is one of the most vigorous types of games in the entire globe. This is mainly because softball is a direct successor of the baseball. You may know already that the baseball sport is one of the many popular games of all times that is why most of its diehard fans are also getting hooked on when it comes to supporting its descendant, the softball.

Playing softball game is simply one of the several vigorous types of outdoor activities that one could ever experience. However, in order to perform a great play, one should foremost undergo intensive practices and be able to perform effectively each of the softball drills.

In dealing with certain trainings, one should get some backup in order to effectively master each of the softball drills. Yes, having a coach beside you is certainly going to help you out in filtering such required skills of softball. Also, it is not entirely necessary for you to perform all of the drills, that is why when choosing softball drills that you will undergo, it is very important to consider certain opinions of the coach.

Yet, before engaging yourself with such intensive practices, it is recommended to firstly set your mind and body to be able to not take aback about the training. Warm up is still the best activity that you could perform before going through serious trainings.

Certainly, there are a number of softball drills that need to be incorporated in one’s training; however, again, it is not necessary to master all of those; thus, the drills that you are going to perform should be chosen ideally and wisely. The following are some of the softball drills that must be taken seriously and productively.

• Catching drills

o Hoop – this is going to improve your throws and provides the catcher a target location to toss to

o Cross Sketching - this softball drill is specifically for the catchers; this is for them to practice popping up to throw on steals

o Reaction – this will enhance catchers’ reaction time

o Pop-up – provides catchers practice fielding pop-ups

o Side to side speed – this drill will improve catchers’ speed and the aptitude to move from side to side swiftly.

• Hitting drills

o 60 second - this is going to enhance bat speed by timing the quantity of accurate bat swings, which can be created in 60 seconds.

o Drop – this will maximize the bat speed and will minimize the time it takes to obtain to the contact location.

o Drop drill – this is going to train quick bats and tough hand-eye coordination.

o Knee hitting drill – this will let the players to focus on appropriate hand and arm motion with no nerve-racking on the legs.

These are some of the important softball drills that must be put into consideration, specifically when it comes to hitting and catching drills. Yet, if you want to learn more about other softball drills, then you can liberally search online.
