Practicing with 3-wood in a situation where the ball lies on the field edge and the thicker grass lies straight behind the ball will make you get used to playing on the rough easily. Using the old 5 iron will also be a good idea as any eventuality of the sort may happen during the game and if practiced earlier it will be easy to overcome.

Hitting the ball from an inch or more inside the water will prepare a person for a good play during the rainy season. Getting used to the wet conditions will help a lot in improving the score during the wet season. Also practice playing the ball in deep sand and try using the sand wedge to make you prepared for such kinds of eventualities during the playing of the golf game.

Try hitting a ball in various types of grasses. This will help a person in getting to learn how to play golf in various types of golf courses. Without doing such practice it is easy for one to lose many scores once playing in a field with a different type of grass than the one they are used to.

Showing up early before the game will also help in improving the scores. The player gets enough time to practice on the green and gets used to the golf course conditions. It also helps a player to build confidence before the real game starts. This brings about total relaxation of the body and the mind that is highly required before the game starts.

Hitting the golf ball too hard does not help. Many people think that it will give them an extra distance. A left handed player should avoid making the ball curve from left to right and should also make sure that the grip is not weak. This can be seen on the knuckles of your left hand if you are a right handed golfer. If only one knuckle is seen then it means that the grip is weak. Always practice the swing before hitting the ball and keep it simple. At the same time, keep the mind off the swing. Just think about how you will hit the ball, and get the best results in the ball landing at your preferred position exactly. For the desired distance, aligning yourself with the club head in accordance with the turf is very important.
