How To Make A Panini With The Help Of A Panini Press
by: Roman Tkachuk

The word “Panini” means sandwich. Although the word is derived from Italy, now it is internationally recognized. Originally, panini is Italian form of grilled cheese sandwich that is made in America. The difference between Panini and normal sandwich is that it is a grilled food. It can be easily made by using a panini press.

Generally, a Panini press has two hitting plates, one on the top and another on the bottom. In some devices there are also adjustable hinged top that helps to accommodate any thickness of sandwich. There are two types of panini press. One is electric and another one is portable panini press. The former one is easier to use. There is also a temperature control in this cooking device. Just put the sandwich in the device, cover it with the plates and wait until the light, bell or timer gives you signal that the panini is cooked. A portable panini will save the electricity and it is convenient to place with other pans. You can buy a panini press with $40-$70. The price of a good panini press can be ranged from $100-$1000 depending on the degree of superiority.

In this section I will give a brief description of how to make a panini with the help of a panini press.

The prime ingredient to make this food is bread such as ciabatta or any rustic bread. Now slice the bread in thick pieces. The main interesting and enjoyable thing is that you can use any type of ingredients with bread to make it delicious.

It’s better to use three or four ingredients to enjoy the test of each ingredient. Especially chicken, pork or fish (salmon) can be used in this grilled sandwich. Then add some vegetables, for example, tomato, lettuce leaf, grilled onion, cucumber, red capsicum etc. After that, put a slice of cheese in the both piece of bread. It will melt when panini press is heated and will attach the both pieces of bread and will keep all the ingredients inside together.

However you should not overfill your panini because then all the parts will not be cooked properly simultaneously. Sometimes there is a risk of leach out the ingredients and overflow the pan. Before placing the sandwich in the panini press, pre-heat the device. In case of electric device there will be a bell or light technology that will notify you that the device is pre-heated. For non-electric device you can check it by a very simple method. Put a drop of water in the pan and if you get a sizzle sound then the pan is ready to use. Now put your raw sandwich in the device and cover it with lid of the device. You should grill the each side for 3-4 minutes. You can turn over each side to get grill marked on both side and wait until each side become golden brown in color. Now your delicious panini is ready to serve or eat.
