Toys Impact on Child Development

Effect of Toys on Your Child

A toy can make a big impact on your child’s life. All toys are designed for a specific age and to encourage the development of your children. Most parents seek assistance in selecting the right toys at the most ideal stage of their child’s development. Toys provide children with creative outlet and encourage them to use their minds and their muscles.

Toys with sounds and music that react to the child’s action are good for babies, as they begin to match voices with different facial expressions mainly from being fed, held and nurtured. Babies develop their skills through soft book, rattle or play gym, all toys that encourage them to reach and grasp.
Children at the age of 1 or 2 are the most important stage in a child’s development. This is the time for developing independence and important social skills. Most preschoolers love and enjoy dramatic plays such as puppets, balls, wagons, riding toys and art materials.

Toys help children to stimulate their mind and develop cognitive and language skills. It also helps children encourage movement and motor muscles. Toys like push and pull trollies, building blocks builds fine motor in their hands while teaching them to solve problems. Older children can benefit from interactive plays that also promote language, social and physical development.

Today toy store are filled with different and endless variety of toys. And most of it promises to entertain, teach and strengthen your child’s intelligence. Electronic toys always entertain children because of its lights, sound and features. But remember some electronic toys should be accompanied by positive reinforcement from parents. This is one reason why some experts prefer non electronic toys like clay, traditional toys, blocks etc. These toys help your child develop their creativity and provide them the opportunity to learn shapes, colors and numbers.

There are children toys that give impact on the Childs behavior. These are like the kitchen toys, a medical play set or a tool set, these are great toys because they encourage responsibility and build self-esteem. Most children imitate their parents, they love playing the role of being Mom and Dad so always give them good examples so they can develop those good attitude as they grow older.

Providing toys to your children also require your guidance, there are toys that might affect your child and promote behavior that is not acceptable. Always guide them especially when they are watching movies. Most experts say that toys like guns, sword should not be given to children because it promotes violence, and it might have negative effects on your child.

Do not forget that toys can help your child develop their skills but your guidance is still very important. Children who learn at home develop skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.
