Square Trampoline: 3 Benefits Of These Uniquely Shaped Trampolines
by: James Druman

In the past, anyone who had a trampoline typically had the basic round model, and it seems like when I was just a child these were only available in sizes that are referred to as mini trampolines now. These days, trampolines have become huge and are meant for a much more active type of jumping, but they also come in different shapes. Of particular note are the rectangular or square trampolines.

So what is the deal with these—is there any advantage of purchasing a square trampoline over a round trampoline, or is it just a marketing thing? Here are a few things to think about that comes with a squared shape.

1. A Little More Bounce

For most design types, the square trampoline has a little more bounce. This is particularly true with the traditional designs where springs are used. Rounded trampolines have a more compact and less dramatic spring to them. The square set up, on the other hand, uses a criss-cross pattern in the spring alignment that makes for a higher bounce, and that's the type of thing that kids love.

2. More Bouncy Area Over-all

In a similar fashion, the bounce on the surface of a square trampoline covers more area. What I mean by this is that if you are jumping near the edge of the perimeter, you get as much or a bounce as if you were in the center. With the round versions, the center tends to be where all the fun takes place, and over at the edges, things can get a bit dull.

3. Saves Room

This rectangular type of shape can also be great for saving room. The round ones have less surface area for the amount of space they take up, which comes into play when calculating how much clearance room you need.

This also becomes important when you need the space in a room or yard for something else. A neat, compact trampoline with 90 degree angles all around can be easily tucked into a corner of a wall or fence and kept out of the way.

5. It's Just Different

And then there's just good ole' aesthetics and human desire to be just a little different. These different-shaped models are something that not everyone else has, and that's just kind of fun, isn't it?

Whatever your reasons for purchasing this type of shape, they are definitely becoming more popular among buyers who only want the best model they can get their hands on. Do some shopping around and find the best style and design that gives the most fun while also providing safe entertainment for your children.
