The Nokia N8 Provides An Impressive Spec List

Due for release very shortly, the Nokia N8 looks set to turn a lot of heads as the new flagship handset for the manufacturer.

With a number of innovative new features including Nokia’s first 12 mega pixel camera and also the manufacturers first handset to run the Symbian 3 operating system.

The handset itself measures 113.5x 59.1x 12.9 mm whilst weighing in at 135 g. This makes it an average sized Smartphone which are certainly pocket friendly thanks to its lightweight. Its dimensions and weight also make it a comfortable handset to hold and use on the move.

The Nokia N8 offers superb quality display thanks to the 3.5 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen which boasts the ability to display up to 16M colours within a pixel setup of 360x 640. The screen is made out of scratch resistant glass which protects it from everyday wear and tear, such as being dropped, a scenario which many Smartphone users are unfortunately all too familiar with. An accelerometer sensor allows users to view pictures and video clips in both portrait and landscape forms simply by turning the phone accordingly.

A respectable 16 GB of internal storage is provided as standard which are sure to cater to the needs of most users. Should further storage be required the micro SD card slot can be utilised by installing a memory card of up to 32 GB. The internal phonebook can store a vast number of contacts and of course includes the Photocall feature.

In order to connect to cellular networks when out and about, the Nokia N8 utilises class 33 GPRS and class 33 EDGE. In areas where 3G coverage is available, speeds of up to 10.2 mega bytes per second are available thanks to HSDPA, along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second. A faster Internet connection is available however, thanks to built in Wi-Fi Technology which utilises local Wireless Networks where available. Connecting to compatible hardware devices is made simple thanks to both Bluetooth and micro USB connections which allow users to carry out a variety of different tasks.

As mentioned, a highly impressive 12 mega pixel camera is included in the Nokia N8. Thanks to its high pixel resolution of 4000x 3000 pixels coupled with features such as Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash along with Autofocus, geo-tagging and face & smile detection, high quality images can be taken with the minimum effort. The Nokia N8 is also the manufacturer’s first handset to feature the ability to record 720p high definition video footage, and this is at 25 frames per second. An additional VGA video called camera is located on the front of the handset it.

As the new flagship model for the manufacturer, there is a long list of included features as you would expect. The impressive new Symbian 3 operating system allows users to customise three homescreens. The whole host of entertainment features is also included such as a versatile internal media player, stereo FM radio with RDS, and a selection of pre-installed and additional downloadable games. A TV-out allows users to connect an HDMI cable to the handset in order to view high definition footage port on the phone’s camera, and the big screen.

Thanks to its high levels of customisation, impressive multimedia features and great web browsing capabilities, Nokia has done a good job in making sure to include everything users required from a Smartphone and then some.
